Cristi Puiu

He was born in Bucharest, in Titan neighbourhood, whose human fauna he is to bring later to the big screen through a series of films under the title: „Stories from the Outskirts of Bucharest”. During his childhood years, he spent a lot of time playing with his brother in the courtyard of Colentina Hospital, where his father worked as a manager. That is why he initially wanted to be a doctor, building up a chemistry laboratory complete with test tubes and other utensils on the balcony of the family flat.In 1992, he was admitted as a student to the Painting Department of École Supérieure d'Arts Visuels in Geneva.
