The Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) will grant its yearly awards later in April, 2017 to the Romanian films released in 2016.

The nominations at the 20 categories were made by the jury including film critics and historians:

To the Grand Prize and the Trophy of the Filmmakers Union, the following features are competing:

Adrian Sitaru) and
Două lozuri / Two Lottery Tickets (directed by
Paul Negoescu).
Câini / Dogs (directed by
Bogdan Mirică),
Inimi cicatrizate / Scarred Hearts (directed by
Radu Jude) and
Orizont / Horizon (directed by
Marian Crișan) were nominated for the Special Prize of the Jury.
Cristi Puiu (
Sieranevada), Adrian Sitaru (
Illegitimate) and Marian Crișan (
Horizon) are nominated for the Directing Award, Cristi Puiu having also a nomination to the Best Screenplay Award, alongside Bogdan Mirică (
Dogs) and Paul Negoescu (
Two Lottery Tickets).
The directors of photography nominated for the Cinematography Award are:

“Geo Barton” Best Actor Award it to go to one of the actors:

Dan Perjovschi – The Journey (directed by Liviu Varlam).
The two titles nominated for Best Animation Film are

România din spatele frontului / Romania Behind the Lines (directed by Ruxandra Țuchel) are the Jury's nominations for Best Television Film.
To the Opera Prima “Alexandru Tatos” Debut Award, the following directors are competing: Bogdan Mirică (
Dogs) and Catrinel Dănăiață (
Dublu / Double).
The nominees to the Best Makeup Award are: Bianca Boeroiu (
Scarred Hearts), Gabriela Crețan (
Dogs) and Ana Radu, Gina Dan (

On the occasion of the Filmmakers Union Gala, other two Academic Awards will be granted: to film critic and historian
Eva Sîrbu, and to actor
Ilarion Ciobanu (in memoriam), as well as the UCIN Special Award to makeup artist
Mircea Vodă.
