Romanian Film Initiative, BAMcinématek and Jacob Burns Film Center announce the films included in the selection of the 12th Edition of Making Waves: New Romanian Cinema Festival, to be held from 30 November to 7 December 2017, in New York.
Jacob Burns Film Center will screen the best Romanian premieres, among which the latest feature by director
Nae Caranfil, the extravagant musical
6,9 pe Scara Richter / 6.9 on the Richter Scale, as well as two of the most present Romanian films in the international festival circuit –
Fixeur (directed by
Adrian Sitaru) and
Ana, mon amour (directed by
Călin Peter Netzer) –, together with a number of promising debuts. New York-based viewers will have the opportunity to see also
The Gambler, by director Ignas Jonynas, representative of this year's guest country, Lithuania.
From 4 to 7 December, the Festival will be held at BAMcinématek in New York, screening a series of award-winning films by a young generation of talented directors, among which a Balkan thriller, Coen brothers-style, a social comedy, a silent drama and a focus on
Anca Damian, one of the most compelling Romanian directors, unique in her choice to work with a rare genre, the animation documentary, or by her intellectually challenging fiction films.
