The Exit of the Trains / Ieșirea trenurilor din gară, directed by
Radu Jude (the second film in collaboration with the historian Adrian Cioflâncă, who makes his debut as a director) will have their international premiere in the FORUM section of the Berlin Film Festival.
It is for the first time when a Romanian director has two films selected in the same section.
Radu Jude will also be part of the Berlinale Co-production Market with the feature project
Somnambulii, one of the most important film projects market which brings together producers, sales agents, distributors and financers from all over the world.
The 70th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival will take place from February 20 to March 1, 2020.
Uppercase Print / Tipografic Majuscul, an adaptation of the homonymous documentary signed by Gianina Cărbunariu, will have the Romanian premiere on Febryary 21, 2020. By means of the editing technique, the film connects two stories and two histories. One is the real story of the teenager Mugur Călinescu who, in 1981, wrote with a piece of chalk on the walls texts against Nicolae Ceaușescu`s dictatorship. His story is told just the way Gianina Cărbunariu recomposed from his Security file. The second one is the official story that Romania saw and heard: footage from the National Television archives, from the same time.

Ieșirea trenurilor din gară is an editing film made entirely of archive photos and documents referring to the Iași Progrom from June 1941. The first part of the film is made of photos of the victims, with declarations and confessions about their fate accompanying them on the soundtrack.. The second part, which is shorter, represents a composite of Progrom photos, some of them are unique.
The screenplay and directing are signed by Radu Jude and Adrian Cioflâncă, the sound design is signed by Dana Bunesc and the editing by Cătălin Cristuțiu. The producers are Ada Solomon,
Carla Fotea and Radu Jude and the associate producer is Adrian Cioflâncă.

Ieșirea trenurilor din gară is a microfilm and nomada.solo production and it will have the premiere in the Romanian cinemas later this autumn.
Every year the Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival presents a selection of films which focus on innovation or experiment. Over the years, this section included the premieres of filmmakers such as Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Lanzmann, Harun Farocki, Alexander Kluge, Danielle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub, Aki Kaurismäki etc.
Somnambulii, the latest feature project signed by Radu Jude and produced by Ada Solomon through microFILM, is a comedy about body, sex, technology and society. The shootings will start in the summer of 2020 and Katia Pascariu will play the main part.
The project has the support of the Romanian Film Centre and it is included in the Rotterdam-Berlinale Express section of the Berlinale Co-Production Market, right after its premiere at CineMart (January 26-29, 2020).
