“The Fixer”, directed by Adrian Sitaru, at Toronto IFF
After at the beginning of this year he was present at Berlinale with the independent feature Ilegitim/Illegitimate, director Adrian Sitaru returns to the forefront of international cinema industry with Fixeur / The Fixer.
The film, with a screenplay signed by Adrian and Claudia Silișteanu, was selected to one of the most prestigious film festivals in the United States and Canada - Toronto International Film Festival (8-18 September, 2016), in the programme Contemporary World Cinema. The Fixer tells the story of Radu, an intern with the Bucharest Office of France Presse Agency, aspiring to become a reporter. The opportunity arises for him to write a feature report on a minor prostitute girl repatriated from France, giving him the chance to prove himself. However, as he is drawing near to achieving his goal, Radu understands that the ruthlessness he employs to cope with doing this job is doubtful.

The cast stars the actors Tudor Aaron Istodor, Mehdi Nebbou, Nicolas Wanczycki, Diana Spătărescu, Andreea Vasile, Adrian Titieni, Cristian Ilinca.
“It is a film about abuse and manipulation, and maybe even more, about the dual nature of our value system. Working on this film I realised how much, spurred on by the desire to reach perfection, blinded by the percept authorising me to place art before life, I abused sometimes my actors and co-workers,” Adrian Sitaru stated. “To play with actors' emotions for the sole purpose of getting authentic reactions during the shoot, to lie to your crew in order to get dramatic effects, all these are clear signs of manipulation,” the director further declared. The cinematography was signed by Adrian Silişteanu, the editing by Mircea Olteanu, and the sound track was dealt with by Ioan Filip and Dan-Ștefan Rucăreanu, the scenography by Gina Călin, the costumes by Adina Bucur, the producers were Anamaria Antoci and Adrian Silișteanu, and the co-producer was Jean des Forêts. The Fixerv is a production of 4 Proof Film (Romania), in co-production with Petit Film (France), made in association with Domestic Film, DaKINO Production and Movie Production Entertainment and with the support of the National Filmmaking Centre, of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, of Région Basse-Normandie, of the National Filmmaking Centre in France, of the French Institute of Bucharest and of HBO România. The film was developed within CineLink – Sarajevo Film Festival and Les Arcs 1950 Co-production Village.
