The Romanian Film Centennial: 84 Events in România and Basarabia


     The Romanian Film Centennial reached the middle of its journey, with over 50 events that took place from February to November 2018. The project took place is Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with guests from the Romanian cinematography and with films chosen by the project experts: Bujor T. Rîpeanu, Irina-Margareta Nistor and Cristian Mungiu. Tens of guests were part of the #100filme Caravan, receiving the official distinction which marks the year 2018, by means of the Romanian film.
     The initiators, the ARTIS (Iași) and MIA (Chișinău) associations launched the project in Iași, in February 2018, with the support of the Iași City Hall, through the Centennial Department, coordinated by the prof.univ.dr.Daniel Șandru.
     From December 7 to 9, 2018, eight Romanian films were screened at the Ateneu Cinema in Iași, with the participation of the actors Simona BondocIleana PopoviciFlorin Piersic. The events were presented by the Film Ambassador – Irina Margareta Nistor. The actors Constantin Codrescu and Tamara Buciuceanu-Botez also attended the meeting with the audience in Iași by phone. Around 1,000 viewers were present at the screening of those eight films.
     In Romania, the project that brought 53 films (out of the 100) on the big screen, gathered 9,000 spectators, 66 events took place in 28 towns, with over 20 guests.
     In Basarabia 18 events took place in 15 towns and 18 films were screened, with more than 3,500 viewers.
