Graduate of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies - the Faculty of Foreign Trade, in 1972. He received his PhD in economy at the same university in 1997 with a thesis on the economy of the film. From 1972 to 1979 he was a scientific researcher at the Bucharest Institute of World Economy. In 1990 he takes part in the founding of the Romanian National Film Center.
