Nominations for The Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) Awards Gala 2016


     The Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN) Awards Gala will be held on 16 May, and this year's jury has announced the nominations for 2015 films, which are posted on the site of UCIN.
     Thus, for the Grand Prize and the Romanian Filmmakers Union Trophy, the following features are competing: București NonStop (directed by Dan Chișu), De ce eu? (Why Me?) (directed by Tudor Giurgiu) and Aferim! (directed by Radu Jude), while the Best Director will go to one of the following: Corneliu Porumboiu (Comoara) (The Treasure), Dan Chișu (București NonStop) or Tudor Giurgiu (De ce eu?) (Why Me?). 
     Rodica Lazăr was nominated for Best Actress, for her role in Carmen, together with actresses Ioana Flora (Scor Alb) (Blank Score) and Hilda Peter (Box). Best Actor Award will go to one of the following actors: Toma Cuzin (Comora) (The Treasure)Emilian Oprea (De ce eu?) (Why Me?) and Teodor Corban (Aferim!).
     For Best Supporting Actress, the following are competing: Ioana Flora (Acasă la tata) (Back Home)Olimpia Melinte (București NonStop), Andreea Vasile (De ce eu?) (Why Me?), and the Best Supporting Actor will go to one of the following: Alexandru Potocean (Nu există-n lumea asta) (Nothing like it in this World)Andi Vasluianu (Acasă la tata) (Back Home) and Gheorghe Ifrim (București NonStop).
     For Best Editing, the nominees are: Dana Bunescu (Carmen), Cătălin Cristuțiu (Aferim!) and Tudor Pojoni (București NonStop), and to Best Cinematography – Marius Panduru (Aferim!), Daniel Kosuth (Lumea e a mea) (The World is Mine) and Viorel Sergovici Jr. (Poveste de dragoste) (Love Story).
     The nominees to Best Screenplay are: Tudor Giurgiu and Lorena Novak (De ce eu?), Dan Chișu (București NonStop), Radu Jude and Florin Lăzărescu (Aferim!).
     The Best Full-Length Documentary will be chosen among the following: Muntele Magic (Magic Mountain) (directed by Anca Damian), România: patru patrii (directed by Alexandru Solomon) and Aliyah DaDa (directed by Oana Giurgiu). The nominees for Short Documentary are: Rețeaua (The Network) (directed by Claudiu Mitcu),Torna, torna, fratre! Povestea aromânilor spusă de ei înșiși (Torna, torna, fratre! The Story of Aromanians Told by Themselves) (directed by Marian Voicu) and Lume, ia-mă în brațe, eu vin (World, Hold Me, Here I Come) (directed by Violeta Gorgos), the latter being also included in the TV documentary section, together with other two productions: Parisul lui Matei (Matei's Paris) (directed by Andreea Știliuc), Dreptul la memorie. Argumente pentru înființarea unui muzeu al comunismului în România, București (The Right to Memories. Arguments for setting up a Museum of Communism in Romania, Bucharest) (directed by Ruxandra Țuchel, Cristina Rădulescu, Roxana Chiriță).
     Dopul scuză mijloacele (The Cork Justifies the Means) (directed by Mihai Ionescu), Ramona (directed by Andrei Crețulescu) and Nu există-n lumea asta (Nothing like it in this World) (directed by Andreea Vălean) are the UCIN jury's nominations to the Best Fiction Short Award.
     Best Animation Film is to be granted to one of the following productions: Omulan! (directed by Matei Branea), Colinda (The Carol) (directed by Ion Octavian Frecea) and Recunoștință (Gratitude) (directed by Ștefan and Andrei Scărlătescu).
     The Special Award of the Jury will be bestowed on one of the following productions: Aferim!, Dreptul la Memorie! (The Right to Memories) or Autoportretul unei fete cuminți (Self-Portrait of a Dutiful Daughter) (directed by Ana Lungu).
     The nominees for Best Sound Track Award are: Cristian Tarnovețchi (București NonStop), Andre Rigaut and Matthias Lempert (Box), Florin Tăbăcaru (Acasă la tata) (Back Home), while to Original Score Award the nominees are Cristian Lolea (Carmen), Alexandru Bălănescu (Muntele Magic/Magic Mountain) ) and Marius Leftărache (Cel ales) (The Chosen One).
     The Opera Prima Award will be granted to one of the directors who made their full-length feature debut last year: Doru Nițescu (Carmen), Andrei Cohn (Acasă la tata) (Back Home) or Nicolae Constantin Tănase (Lumea e a mea) (The World is Mine).
     Bianca Boeriu and Astrid Weber (Box), Petya Simeonova and Bianca Boeriu (Aferim!), Dana Roșeanu (Carmen) were nominated to the Best Make-up Award, and Mihaela Oros and Răzvan Gheorghiu (Scorpion King IV), Gabriel Burlacu and Valentin Vasilescu (Umbre/Shadows, episode 7) and Deliu Ionescu and Valentin Vasilescu (Bon voyage) will be competing for the Best Stunt Award.
     For the Best Costume Award, the nominees are: Ana Ioneci (Dopul scuză mijloacele) (The Cork Justifies the Means)Dana Păpăruz (Aferim!) and Oana Păunescu (Live), and to Best Scenography, the nominees are: Augustina Stanciu (Aferim!), Cristian Niculescu, Andrea Szelyes (De ce eu?) (Why Me?) and Mihnea Mihăilescu (Dopul scuză mijloacele) (The Cork Justifies the Means).
