The film
Arest, directed by
Andrei Cohn, will have the international premiere at the 54th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival – East of the West Competition (June 28 – July 6). The festival had its first edition in 1946, in Mariánské Lázně, then it moved to Karlovy Vary. Starting with 1956 is an A class festival.
“I am really happy to have been selected for Karlovy Vary and I`m anxious to see how the film will be received by the local audience, who also went through communism” Andrei Cohn declared.
The first Karlovy Vary screening is scheduled for July 2. Until that day,
Arest will have the national premiere at TIFF Cluj, on June 7 and 8, during the Romanian Film Days. The release in the Romanian cinemas is scheduled for the autumn of this year.
The film features:
Alexandru Papadopol (Dinu Neagu) and
Iulian Postelnicu (Vali), alongside András Hatházi, Liviu
Pintilieasa, Sorin Cociș and Marian Alexoaia. The screenplay was written by Andrei Cohn and Alexandru Negoescu, the cinematography is signed by
Andrei Butică and the film producer is
Anca Puiu for Mandragora. The film is made with the support of the Romanian Film Center and of the Romanian Television Society.
