
The film's action is set in London in the '40s, during the period of maximum weakness of the British resistance against the Nazi aggression. The Film Division of the British Ministry of Interior hires screenwriter Catrin Cole to bring a female perspective on the national propaganda campaign, meant to keep population's hopes alive after the devastating effects of the Blitzkrieg.
Cinepolitica competition brings together seven of the latest political films and documentaries, three of them being the starting points for two debates.
On Friday, 21 April, from 18.30, at Cinema Elvire Popescu,
Human Harvest (directed by Leon Lee) will be screened, a
shocking documentary based on the investigation by

two nominees to the Nobel Prize, on organ traffic in China. The film will be preceded by a debate, attended by Gina and Adrian Sturdza, representatives of DAFOH organisation (Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting).
Current street movements and the ascension of extreme right wing in Europe are the subjects of the second debate, to take place on Saturday, at 19.30, also at CinemaElvire Popescu. The following will be in attendance: Ruxandra Ivan, University Lector with the Faculty of Political Sciences of Bucharest University, Elena Calistru, Chairperson and Co-founder of Funky Citizens Association, Dumitru Borțun, Politologist and Lecturer with the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations of SNSPA, and Historian Mihai Burcea. The debate will be moderated by Oana-Valentina Suciu, Sociologist, Lector with the Faculty of Political Sciences of Bucharest University. The debate will be held between the screenings
of two films dealing with most current issues:
Putin Forever?, a documentary about the protests in Russia in 2011 – 2012, and
Chez nous, a film about the ascension of extreme right wing in France.
The jury of the sixth edition of Cinepolitica competition is made up of: Oana-Valentina Suciu, sociologist, Nicolae Mandea, Rector of “I.L. Caragiale” Theatre and Cinema University, and Ioan Cristescu, writer and university lecturer.
The Balassi Institute of Bucharest will screen, outside the competition,
Janus (directed by Gyöngyössy Bence), a film inspired by true stories about the Securitate means of operation, and
Határon 1988-89 (directed by Lukács Csaba, Marossy Géza
), a medium-length film on the people who tried to run away from Ceaușescu's dictatorial regime.
Cinepolitica International Film Festival will be held between 20 – 23 April, at Cinema Elvire Popesco and at Balassi Institute of Bucharest.
