The story, told in a satirical and surreal note starts on Nov. 10, 1979, ten years before the fall of communism in Europe.
Boryana is determined not to deliver a baby in communist Bulgaria but, despite the efforts to protect herself against an unwished pregnancy, her child survives. Thus, Viktoria comes to world without an umbilical cord that connects her to her mother and she’s proclaimed “the child of the decade”, becoming the symbol of communist Bulgaria.
While growing up she dominates all those around her and is at constant war with her mother - the one who did not want her. In 1989, when the regime is about to be changed, Viktoria sees her life turned upside down and the hindering of the new established state of things bring her back towards her mother.
