“Endless Poetry” by Alejandro Jodorovsky to open BIEFF 2017

In partnership with its long-term collaborator, the Director’s Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival, BIEFF 2017 presents in Romania the most recent feature by Alejandro Jodorovsky, one of the key figures in avant-garde cinema, renowned for his provocative Surrealist masterpieces from the 70s (Santa Sangre, El TopoThe Holy Mountain).
According to Variety magazine, Jodorovsky, “well into his eighties, has managed to reinvent himself in the most spectacular and unlikely way. Endless Poetry, the second in Jodorowsky’s proposed cycle of five cinematic memoirs (the first was 2013’s The Dance of Reality), is a work of transporting charm and feeling. It’s the most accessible movie the director has ever made, and it may also be the best.” The Dance of Reality was screened with a more than a full house at BIEFF 2014.
Following its international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the Romanian premiere of Endless Poetry will take place during the 2017 BIEFF Opening Gala scheduled on Tuesday, March 28th, at 8:00 at the Peasant Museum Cinema, with the support of the French Institute,  the distribution company LePacte and  the TIFF Cinematheque. The second screening of the film will take place on Friday, March 31st, at 5:30 p.m. at Elvire Popesco Cinema.
BIEFF 2017 also takes further its partnership with MUBI initiated last year. That is why, starting with March 23rd, a series of films made by established experimental film auteurs will be available to watch online on the MUBI platform for a month, acting as a warm-up for the festival. MUBI is an online video on demand platform that focuses on cult, classic and independent films from around the world and among the directors whose films are to be showcased at the initiative of BIEFF are: Jonas Mekas, Maya Deren, Michael Snow, William Klein and Isidore Isou
The 7th edition of BIEFF will take place 28th March – 2nd April 2017 at the Peasant Museum Cinema and Elvire Popesco Cinema.
