„Matei Șerban Sandu–About the clarity of intention”

Thursday evening, on the 30th of June, the premiere screening of the art documentary Matei Șerban Sandu – About the clarity of intention took place at the UCIN cinema hall, in the presence of the director Ovidiu Darian and of the painter himself. After the screening, a discussion happened between Matei Șerban Sandu, Ovidiu Darian și Laurențiu Damian.
The documentary is dedicated to the technique of the painter Matei Șerban Sandu. The structure is pointed out by the dialogue between the director and the painter, who makes a demonstration by making Dorian`s portrait during the few shooting days in his workshop. You can feel the intimacy of the two in the flow of the dialogue and partially it is due to their friendship of many years. Actually, when asked by Laurențiu Damian if he is not disturbed by the presence of the camera in his workshop, Matei Șerban Sandu explained that he got over this feeling uncomfortablea long time ago, but he admits that getting used to work under some other people`s eyes represents something that is educated in time.
The screenplay and the film directing were signed by Ovidiu Darian, Mihail Sărbușcă was the director of photography, the sound designer was Călin Potcoavă, the editing was signed by Mihail Sărbușcă and Ovidiu Darian, the original music was signed by Marius Roșiu and the artistic consultant was Laurențiu Damian. The film was produced by the Video Art Studio, of the Ministry of Culture.
In the interview he gave the AaRc team, the director Ovidiu Darian talked about how he conceived the documentary, as well as the reasons why he was interested in Matei Șerban Sandu`s personality. Darian also spoke about the process of musical illustration and about his collaboration with Marius Roșiu, the film composer.
