In 1950 she began working at the state production company Studioul cinematografic "Bucureşti" (Bucharest Film Studio), at first as an assistant to Lucia Anton and Yolanda Mîntulescu, and starting 1954 as chief-editor.

She is sometimes credited as Eugenia or Jeni Dumitrescu
There is a chapter on her work in the book ”Școala de montaj a filmului românesc”, written by Cristina Ionescu and Silvia Cusursuz (Go to Cinetipar).
