This weekend
Lemonade / Luna de miere will be screened in three international festivals: International Women’s Film Festival of Salé in Morocco, Jagran International Film Festival in India and the Independent Film Festivals ARS in Poland.
After the
world premiere that took place in February at the Berlin International Film Festival,
Lemonade was selected in more than 20 festivals all over the world; the
American premiere was in New York, at the Tribeca Film Festival and it received the Best Directing Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
At the International Women’s Film Festival of Salé,
Lemonade is screened in the official competition section, alongside other 11 films.
Lemonade will close the 9th edition of the Jagran Film festival in Delhi and then it will be presented in 16 other cities in
India. Lemonade will also be screened in the competition of the 2018 ARS Independent in Katowice, Poland.
“At the end of this month,
Lemonade will bring the story of a Romanian immigrant to the audience of three countries where both emigration and the woman`s condition are hot, important topics: Morocco, Poland and India. We are glad that our film caught the attention of the programmers and distributors in such different areas and I do hope that these screenings will be a good opportunity to ask questions and raise awareness”, Ioana Uricaru said.
Lemonade will be distributed in the Romanian cinemas by Voodoo Films
starting with October 26, 2018. Besides the screenings in Bucharest, the film will also be scheduled in Iași, Timișoara, Ploiești, Cluj, Constanța, Vaslui, Brașov, Lugoj, Călărași, Buzău, Suceava, Pitești, Târgu Mureș, Reșița, Caransebeș, Vulcan, Oravița, Sibiu, Galați, Slobozia, Sfântu
Gheorghe and Arad.
After having received the
Best Directing Award in Sarajevo,
Lemonade also received the
Danube 2860 award for the best film at the Dunav Film Fest Smederevo, Serbia, the press award, UFK-UCC, at the Filmfestival Oostende in Belgium and the “Perspective Young Cinema” award at the Fünf Seen Film Festival in Germany. Previously, the film had also received the Best Film Award at the
FEST New Directors/New Films Festival in Espinho, in Portugal.
The film is inspired by a newspaper article and it tells the story of a few tensioned days in the life of Mara, a nurse (who had left from Romania) who is forced to confront her own projection of the American dream with the reality itself.
