“Sieranevada”, “Two Lottery Tickets” and other surprise screenings at the Romanian Film White Night

A night full of surprises, with preview screenings and meetings with special guests, awaits the Bucharest-based viewers at the White Night of Romanian Film, on 16 September.
Sieranaveda, directed by Cristi Puiu, Romania's proposal to the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and screened in competition at Cannes, is one of the most eagerly awaited for titles of the programme.
Also as preview screening, the first Bucharest viewing of the comedy Două lozuri/Two Lottery Tickets will be held, directed by Paul Negoescu. Inspired by I. L. Caragiale's short short story, the film revolves around the three protagonists, Sile, Dinel and Pompiliu (Dragoș BucurAlexandru Papadopol and Dorian Boguță), who find out that it is not enough to be declared winner just because you checked all the winning numbers on the ticket, but you have to „suffer” until you get to be a millionaire, so they will go through a series of adventures up to the point when they can go to the Lottery House to cash into their prize. An interview taken by AaRC to Paul Negoescu and Ana Drăghici (the film's DoP) may be viewed here.
After midnight, at Cinema Elvire Popesco, filmmakers will have a surprise-screening: one of the most eagerly awaited-for and with the most number of awards granted Romanian films of the year will have a preview screening.

A new section at this seventh Edition, entitled 10 years since premiere, proposes a (re)viewing of several features that marked the New Romanian Cinema, and that celebrate this year a decade since their release: Hârtia va fi albastră/The Paper Will Be Blue (directed by Radu Muntean), Cum mi-am petrecut sfârșitul lumii/How I Spent the End of the World (directed by Cătălin Mitulescu), A fost sau n-a fost?12:08 East of Bucharest (directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), Legături bolnăvicioase/Love Sick (directed by Tudor Giurgiu).
