Sieranaveda, directed by
Cristi Puiu, Romania's proposal to the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and screened in competition at Cannes, is one of the most eagerly awaited for titles of the programme.
Also as preview screening, the first Bucharest viewing of the comedy
Două lozuri/Two Lottery Tickets will be held, directed by Paul Negoescu. Inspired by I. L. Caragiale's short short story, the film revolves around the three protagonists, Sile, Dinel and Pompiliu (
Dragoș Bucur,
Alexandru Papadopol and
Dorian Boguță), who find out that it is not enough to be declared winner just because you checked all the winning numbers on the ticket, but you have to „suffer” until you get to be a millionaire, so they will go through a series of adventures up to the point when they can go to the Lottery House to cash into their prize. An interview taken by AaRC to
Paul Negoescu and
Ana Drăghici (the film's DoP) may be viewed
here.
