Recommendations of TIFF.15 for the beginning of the week


     After a full weekend, with thousands of viewers at the outdoor screenings held in Unirii Square and at Banffy Castle in Bonțida, a world premiere, Nelly's Adventure, partially shot in Sibiu, which brought hundreds of children to Florin Piersic Cinema, and after the first concerts, TIFF carries on with special events, with screenings of the films in competition, debates and meetings within TIFF Industry.
     The cine-concerts Patimile Ioanei d’Arc (Passion of Joan of Arc) in “Sfânta Treime” Roman-Catholic Church and A Hawk and a Hacksaw, with Umbrele strămoșilor uitați (Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors) by Sergei Paradjanov, the world premiere of the film Two Lottery Tickets in Arkhai Sculpture Park of Vlaha, and the much awaited-for concert of accordion player Kimmo Pohjonen – are just a few of the TIFF beginning of the week highlights..
     Două lozuri/ Two Lottery Tickets (directed by Paul Negoescu) is scheduled on Tuesday, 31 May, at 21.45, in Arkhai Sculpture Park of Vlaha. The screening will be followed by a meeting with the audience.
     On Monday, at 17.00, TIFF artistic director Mihai Chirilov will sit down with journalist Mihnea Măruță talking about how it is to view over a thousand films and choose around 200 for TIFF. On Tuesday, 31 May, actor Levente Molnár will talk about the experience Saul fia, Oscar-winner for Best Foreign Film and on Wednesday, 1 June, Tudor Giurgiu, Chairman of TIFF, will answer all and every question coming from the viewers about organising the biggest film festival in Romania.
     Hundreds of guests have arrived in Cluj these days to talk with the audience about their films, within Q&A session. On Tuesday, 31 May, at Cinema Arta, the Q&A will be attended by directors Fabrizio Maltese (16.15, 50 Days in the Desert) and Sion Sono (from 18.30, after Suicide Club, and at 20.45, after Noriko’s Dinner Table). Also on Tuesday, at Cercul Militar, Sion Sono will answer question after the screening of Be Sure to Share, at 15.45. At Cinema City Iulius Mall – Sala 3, Imam Hasanov will talk about Holy Cow, at 19.15. At Dacia Mănăștur, Mike Downey and Elite Zexer will answer question after the screening of the features Life Is a Trumpet (18.00), respectively Sandstorm (20.00). At Cinema Victoria, Ali Abassi will talk about his film Shelley, starring Cosmina Stratan, at 15.00, and Alexander Hasskerl and Jonas Rothlaender will talk about Fado, at 22.30.
