Participarea României la Festivalul de Film European de la Guanajuato, Mexic


     Romania is the invited country of the European Film Festival in Guanajuato (GUCE, Festival de Cine Europeo en Guanajuato), organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Romanian Embassy at the Mexican United States, in collaboration with Dacin Sara.
     The Romanian participation at the festival (June 3 to 9, 2019), besides the 12 films presented in different sections, includes the photographer Sorin Onişor`s exhibition entitled “The Romanian traditional village: people and crafts” and a camera music concert of the pianist Camelia Crenguța Goilă and the soprano Mihaela Elena Bilciurescu-Nicola.
     This edition of the festival pays homage to Radu Muntean and he will discuss with the writer and journalist Sergio Huidobro, about his films and about the actual Romanian cinema.
     The European Film Festival in Guanajuato is a university festival which offers the possibility to present the best European films and to promote the synergy between the film industries in Europe and Mexico. The programming includes European film productions which had big critic and audience success and which represent relevant examples of the European film reality.
     The official section will include 17 European films awarded at international festivals. Two Romanian films will be presented in this section: „I Do not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians / Îmi este indiferent dacă în istorie vom intra ca barbari” (directed by Radu Jude) și Alice T. (directed by Radu Muntean).
     Other two Radu Munteanu`s films will be presented in the section  Cineasta invitadoTuesday, after Christmas / Marți, după Crăciun and One Floor Below / Un etaj mai jos.
     The section Lo Nunca Visto includes five films which are premieres, or less promoted and which offer unique approaches in the film creation. The Romanian film included here is Lemonade, directed by Ioana Uricaru.
     Mother / Mama, the film directed by Elisabeta Bostan, will be screened in the section dedicated to children.
     The festival will also present a retrospective of the Romanian cinema; the films that will be screened are: 12:08 East of Bucharest / A fost sau n-a fost (directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), The mill of Good Luck / La moara cu noroc (directed by Victor Iliu), 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days / 3 luni, 3 săptămâni și 2 zile (directed by Cristian Mungiu), The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu / Moartea Domnului Lăzărescu (directed by Cristi Puiu), Sequences / Secvențe (directed by Alexandru Tatos), Reconstruction / Reconstituirea  (directed by Lucian Pintilie).
