The sixth edition of the event dedicated to the Jewish film which is produced all over the world, was scheduled in June this year, instead of autumn. That was due to the problems with the number of the cinemas that are still open for festivals. After the closing of the Cinema Studio of the Filmmakers Union, a place which was dedicated to the film premieres and festivals, the organizers had to find alternative solutions. The Jewish Film Festival took place at the Eforie Cinema, at the cinema of the Romanian Peasant Museum and at the Green Hours terrace.
Though it was organized in a great haste, The Jewish Film Festival came with interesting programs, chosen by LiviuCarmely, the artistic director:Director`s Portrait – Savi Gabizon (who was present at the q&a), Retrospective Sidney Lumet, the university film. The films of the two competition sections (feature and documentary) came from Argentina, Ukraine, Germany, USA, Belgium and Israel.
The filmmakers that are invited to be part of the jury or just to meet the audience instantly become ambassadors of Romania, after being impressed by the places, by the hospitality and by the professionals they meet here.
