Among the most appreciated contemporary Israeli filmmakers Savi Gabizon graduated, in 1987, the Film Faculty of the Tel Aviv University, where, starting in 1993, he has been Professor of directing and screenwriting. He is also teaching at the „Sam Spiegel” Film and Television School. His first feature-length film,
Shuroo, released in 1991, was a
box-office success and was granted numerous prizes: seven Ophir Awards from the Israeli Film and Television Academy, the Best Actor Award at the Haifa International Film Festival, and the Wolgin Award at the Jerusalem International Film Festival.

Nina’s Tragedies (2003) is the story of Nadav, a shy teenager secretly in love with Nina, an extremely attractive woman. Unfortunately, the woman is none other than the young man's aunt. Everything changes when her husband is killed in a terror attack, and Nadav's parents get divorced. To his delight, the teenager is sent to live with Nina. From the very moment of his arriving into the house, all kind of unexpected events start to take place.
The sixth edition of the Bucharest Jewish Film Festival takes place between 11-17 June, at the Romanian Farmers' Museum, Horia Bernea Hall, and at Cinematheque Eforie. This year's edition includes over 30 documentary and fiction films, feature-length and shorts, most of them in premiere in Romania.
