Cinepub premiere – Episode 4 of ICAR Series

     CINEPUB and Scena9 present the fourth episode of the series ICAR – an Alternative History of Romanian Cinema: “Romanian Realism with Cristi Puiu”.

     The video essay, signed by Lucian Georgescu and Marius Roșu, recreates the atmosphere of the event “15 years of realism. An evening with Cristi Puiu”, suggesting an essential encounter with the emblematic personality of the New Romanian Wave, the director who on Saturday, 4 June, was granted the Transilvania 15 Trophy at the 15th Edition of Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF). His latest film, Sieranevada, was internationally premiered in the Official Competition at Cannes.
     “A great film must be like breathing, like Japanese penmanship. […] I am very interested in truth. And I wonder … Could we catch it, capture it somehow? Emotion is an accident, an occurrence.” (Cristi Puiu).
     On CINEPUB, three films signed by Cristi Puiu are available: Marfa și banii/Stuff and Dough, Moartea domnului Lăzărescu/Death of Mr. Lăzărescu, and the short Un cartuș de Kent și un pachet de cafea/A Carton of Kent and a Pack of Coffee.
