Premiul pentru publicistică 2015 al Asociaţiei Criticilor de film

Focus on Chile at the first Edition of PELÍCULA, between 14-18 September, 2016

PELÍCULA – LATIN AMERICAN FILM & EXPERIENCE (14-18 September, 2016, Bucharest)  has prepared for those passionate about Latin America a special film programme from Chile and, with the support of the Chile Republic Embassy in Romania, it will bring in front of the audience a special guest, internationally renowned:  Chilean composer Diego Fontecilla.
Chile cinematography will be represented at the Festival's first Edition by 4 very different films in relation to their genre: animation, drama, thriller, documentary.
This year's Oscar winner for Best Animation Short, Historia de un oso/Bear Story (2014, directed by Gabriel Osorio Vargas) presents the story of a bear who, through a mechanical diorama, sends a very emotional message. It is the first film from Chile to have ever had obtained such international acclaim, as well as the first Latin America production to won an Academy Award.  (Wednesday, 14 September, at 19:30, Cinema Elvira Popescu).
Talion (2015, directed by Martín Tuta) is a thriller bringing into focus issues such as corruption, mass media manipulation, murder, blackmail and paedophilia. Mirubin is the leading character who makes justice by himself, punishing the evil-doers regardless who they are and through brutal means. Shortly, he becomes a mobile target, being sought after by key government characters or by journalists.
The 4,200 coastline kilometres often hide heart-breaking stories: from the genocide on the Patagonia indigenous populations at the beginning of the 20th Century, to the monstrous practices of the Pinochet regime, known to have thrown around 1,200 bodies into the ocean. El boton de Nacar/The Pearl Button is a film that could be summarised in only one phrase: the ocean contains the story of all humanity. It got the prize for Best Screenplay at the Berlin Film Festival, and it illustrates, according to director Patricio Guzmán, a significant part of the Chile State hitory.
La memoria del agua/The Memory of Water is a drama presenting a moment of the lives of Javier and Amanda, in their attempt to get over an accident that completely changed their lives. But one thing is for certain: love always prevails. Director Matías Bize is known to Romanian viewers for his touching productions En la Cama/In BedLa Vida de los Peces/The Life of Fish). The special guest of Pelicula's first Edition, Chilean artist  Diego Fontecilla, the one who signs the sound track of the feature La memoria del agua/The Memory of Water, is to meet with the audience at the end of the screening (Friday, 16 September, at 18:00, Cinema Elvira Popescu).
