The second edition of the Architecture and Urbanism Film Festival was a test for the organizers. The UrbanEye team lost two important members in the Colectiv Club tragedy – the architects Cătălina Ioniță and Mihai Alexandru, to whom the festival was dedicated. The screenings from Cinema Elvira Popescu were suspended during the tragic events that took place in France. Even so, the success of the first edition in 2014 and the determination to keep going a project on architecture and urbanism in film, contributed to the will to take this edition to a good end, adding also a competition.
Monica Sebestyn, the festival director, told us about the selection of Romanian and international films, about the collaboration with the Vira Association, which came with the proposal of a workshop for highschool teenagers – “My First Documentary”, but also a presentation of the project Housing Stories, about the debates on urban topics.
The film critic Mihai Fulger and the film director Cătălin Mitulescu, together with the other members of the jury, decided that the 2015 UrbanEye Film Festival Award was deserved by Common Ground (Charges Communes) directed by Charlotte Grégoire and Anne Schiltz, which was shot in Romania.
