The European Film Festival in Timișoara, 26-28 May 2017


     From 26 to 28 May 2017, the European Film Festival (FFE) brings to Timișoara two of the latest Romanian films, as well as other seven European productions made available by the Embassies and Cultural Institutes of Austria, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, France and Hungary.

     Cealaltă parte a speranței / The Other Side of Hope (Finland, directed by Aki Kaurismäki) is the film that will open the Festival in Timișoara, following its screenings in Bucharest (4 – 11 May), Iași (12 – 14 May), Gura Humorului (19 – 21 May) and Tîrgu Mureș (19 – 21 May). Timișoara is the last of the five cities where the European Film Festival was held this year.
     The two Romanian films to be viewed by Timișoara-based audience are Povestea iubirii / A History of Love (directed by Radu Mihăileanu), with a preview screening on 27 May, and Ultima zi / The Last Day (directed by Gabriel Achim). Gabriel Achim will arrive in Timișoara on 28 May and will talk to the viewers at the end of the screening.
     At FFE Timișoara, the following features will be also screened: Together For Ever / Amžinai Kartu (Lithuania, directed by Lina Lužytė), The Migrumpies / Die Migrantigen (Austria, directed by Arman T. Riahi), Fever at Dawn / Hajnali láz (Hungary, directed by Péter Gárdos), Safari (Austria, directed by Ulrich Seidl), Mother / EMA (Estonia, directed by Kadri Kõusaar) and Mercenary / Mercenaire (France, directed by Sacha Wolff). The films are scheduled for screening at the Capitol Summer Garden and at the Western University – “Ioan Curea” Aula Magna Hall.
