The boys, secondary school pupils, did not know who the Finnish director was, but they had found out from one of their teachers that a film festival was to start at the Culture House, so they went there curious to find out what was up. They spent time with the festival crew and tried to solve the mystery of the cast worn by
Mimi Brănescu in the poster of
Ultima zi / The Last Day (directed by
Gabriel Achim), to be screened the next day with the director attending. Until the opening, the kids got so familiar with the organisers, that they welcomed the viewers like genuine hosts.
Finally, the kids got to see
The Other Side of Hope, which started at 19.30, after
Alex Trăilă,
artistic director of the festival, had wished the viewers present at „Mihai Ursachi” Culture House of Iași to enjoy the screening.
The European Film Festival kicked off on
4 May 2017 in Bucharest, and it is carried on in Iași from 12 to 14 May, and afterwards in the cities of Tîrgu Mureș (19 -21 May), Gura Humorului (19 – 21 May) and Timișoara (26 – 28 May).
