Over 200 viewers had their first meeting with DokStation, spared by the rain, with live music and documentary films, an experience that exemplified the DokStation concept, a Festival addressed both to audience passionate by film and music and to Bucharest neighbourhood communities.
The documentary
Mistaken for Strangers (2013), directed by Tom Berninger, was screened during the event, preceded by a live covers' concert by
The National, performed by musicians
Doru Trăscău and
Andi Dumitrescu.
DokStation made known another two titles in the Festival's programme, both being presented in premiere in Romania.
Bayou Maharajah (2013, directed by Lily Keber
) explores the life and music of piano legend James Booker, the man Dr. described as the greatest piano genius ever produced by New Orleans.
Mad Tiger (2015, directed by Jonathan Yi, Michael Haertlein) follows the relationship between two Japanese artists, Yellow and Red, best friends, troupe colleagues and business partners. Over the latest fifteen years they have organised numerous tours in the United States with their
performance-art punk band entitled
Peelander-Z, but a decision made by one of them will turn upside down their life outside the band.
The screenings will be held in several Bucharest neighbourhoods, at the two venues of the Creation, Art and Tradition Centre of Bucharest Municipality, CreART – Film Garden and Teatrelli (Sector 1), at “Mihai Eminescu” Summer Theatre – Park Lia Manoliu (Sector 2), at Expirat Halele Carol (Sector 5) and at Park Drumul Taberei Amphitheatre (Sector 6).
