Cinepub continues the live streamings made following the partnership with
One World Romania, with a discussion after the screening of
Soldiers/Soldații. Poveste din Ferentari (Monday, March 5, 19:30, at Cinema Elvire Popesco),
Ivana Mladenović`s feature debut, inspired by the autobiographical novel written by Adrian Schiop.
After the screening, starting with 21:30,
Andrei Rus (the co-director of the One World Romanian Festival) will talk to Ivana Mladenović (offline at Cinema Elvire Popescu and online on cinepub.ro) about the development, the making and the release of the film. with a controversial topic in this tense period. Following the previous events – screenings of the film which got repeatedly interrupted by ultra-orthodox organizations in different locations in Bucharest – it is the right time to talk about possible solutions to prevent the same situations in the future.
Soldiers/Soldații. Poveste din Ferentari tells the story of Adi, a 40 years old anthropologist (who had just been dumped by his girlfriend) who moved to the Ferentari neighborhood in order to do research for his PhD on manele. It is there that he meets Alberto, a man who had spent many of his years in prison. Alberto promises Adi to help him get in touch with the singers. Soon, they start having a relationship: adi feeds Alberto on improbable plans of getting rid of poverty and Alberto is delivering Adi sweet words. When the money is finished, they find themselves captive in an apartment where they love each other honestly and they use one another.
