On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, the 12th edition of the Gopo Awards Gala will take place at the Big Hall of the “I.L.Caragiale” National Theatre in Bucharest. The Gopo Gala represents the most important annual event dedicated to the successful productions of the Romanian film industry. The presenter of the event, for the third year in a row, is the actor Alexandru Bogdan. The event that every year rewards the
performance in the Romanian film will be broadcast live on TVR2, from 20:00 and it will also be streamed live on
premiilegopo.ro and
cinepub.ro
Some of the most important Romanian artists will go on stage to offer the Gopo statues created by Adrian Ilfoveanu: Gheorghe Visu, Dorel Vișan, Simona Bondoc, Manuela Hărăbor, Marius Florea Vizante, Pavel Bartoș, Oana Sârbu,, alongside young actors such as Nicoleta Hîncu, Mihai Smarandache, Paul Cimpoieru, Silvana Mihai, Cezar Grumăzescu, Dana Rogoz, Ela Ionescu, Florentina Năstase sau Dana Marineci.
Besides the most expected awards of the evening for Best Film, Best Director (offered by Banca transilvania), Best Actor in a leading role (offered by Audi), Best Actress in a leading role (offered by Aqua Carpatica), Best Documentary (offered by Auchan), Best Hair and Make-up
(offered by MAC Cosmetics Romania) or Best Costumes (offered by Cellini), the program of the evening also includes a few special moments: the Life Achievement Award offered to the actors
George Mihăiță and
Vladimir Găitan by the Mayor House of Bucharest, through Arcub and also to the actress
Sanda Toma (offered by Apa Nova Bucharest) and and to the cinematographer and producer
Ion Marinescu. The Special Award will be given by the film critic and historian
Bujor T. Rîpeanu.
The Audience Award, for the best box office success in 2017 goes to the productions
Octav (directed by Sergiu Celibidachi) and
Ghinionistul (directed by Iura Luncașu).
One Step Behind the Seraphim/ Un pas în urma serafimilor, Daniel Sandu`s feature film directorial debut gathered the most nominations (15); it is followed by
6.9 on the Richter Scale/6,9 pe scara Richter (directed by Nae Caranfil) and
The Anniversary/Aniversarea (directed byDan Chișu) – 8 nominations and
Ana, mon amour (directed by Călin Peter Netzer),
Breaking News (directed by Iulia Rugină) and
Fixer/Fixeur (directed by Adrian Sitaru) – 7 nominations.
