”When we were least expecting, in a year that frightened us and changed us forever, these last few months the films are the ones that bring a smile on our faces, from a long trip to universes that are so different and which are still closer than ever and which came with a best quality hope that is so necessary! Best Comedy is a cine-vaccine with instantaneous effect!” Irina Margareta Nistor, the president of the Bucharest Best Comedy Film jury says.
”I strongly believe in continuity. That is why I knew that Bucharest Best Comedy Film should exist this year as well. I wouldn`t say that Bucharest Best Comedy Film is the first film festival on a TV channel, but I would hope that it will not be the last one as well. I thank ComedyEst for the support!” Enea Dabija, the festival founder-director said.
Bucharest Best Comedy Film festival is organized by the “Grigore Vasiliu Birlic” Cultural Association. This association was founded by the actor`s family members and by some important personalities of the Romanian cultural life who knew him and played alongside him, in order to pay tribute to the artist Grigore Vasiliu Birlic, the man and his work and also to the future generations of actors, viewers and young people who haven`t had the opportunity to grow up with Birlic, to be familiar with the gift that he and his generation brought to the Romanian stage.
By means of this festival, we continue our mission of supporting and promoting the Romanian stage and film, both in the country and abroad, even during these tough times.
This festival is a breath of fresh air, in a period which is extremely complicated, when we forget to smile and when we all think about tomorrow, about our dear ones and about the ones who left us. We need culture more than ever and a film festival helps us return to the values that make us stronger” Alexandru Șerban, the president of the “Grigore Vasiliu Birlic” Cultural Association said.
