Romanian shorts in Timishort 2016 competition


     Tomorrow, 6 October, in Timișoara, the 8th Edition of Timishort will kick off, a shorts' festival. For 4 days, between 6 - 9 October, Timișoara-based viewers will have the opportunity to see 64 shorts divided into 8 sections, 4 of them competitions, and to take part to the related events set up by the festival.
     The official opening of the festival will take place on Thursday, 6 October, from 19:00, at Cinema Timiș, with the preview screening of the Hungary-Romania co-production The Man Who Was Thursday.
     The international competition, having as jurors Grazia Tricario, Carlos Ramos and Balazs Juszt sums up 24 shorts from Great Britain, Macedonia, the Philippines, Sweden, Serbia, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany, Cuba, Brazil, Albania, Hungary, Finland, Ukraine, Turkey, Austria, Canada, China and Poland.
     The national competition includes 11 of the latest shorts: O noapte în Tokoriki/A Night in Tokoriki (directed by Roxana Stroe), Meda (directed by Emanuel Pârvu), Rețea indisponibilă/Network Unavailable (directed by Adina Dulcu), Toate fluviile curg în mare/All Rivers Run to the Sea (directed by Alexandru Badea), Vise de vânzare/Dreams For Sale (directed by Vlad Buzăianu), Blană/Let it Rip (directed by Tudor Botezatu), Te mai uiți și la om/Second Look (directed by Ana-Maria Comănescu), 4 ½ simțuri/4 and ½ Senses (directed by Raluca Răcean Gogos and Ion Aramă), 237 de ani/237 Years (directed by Ioana Mischie), Șapte luni mai târziu/Seven Months Later (directed by Andrei Creţulescu) and Insectar/Insectarium (directed by Andreea Dobre).
     This year's guest school is the International Cinema and TV School (EICTV) of Cuba, and the guest festival is “ShortWaves” of Poznań, Poland. The two sections will present films produced by EICTV and an assortment of shorts of the “ShortWaves” selection.
     Throughout the festival, at the House of Arts, the workshop Timishort Film Lab will unfold, which focuses on promoting cinema education locally and nationally. For 4 days, the participants to the project will be in contact with top trainers, but also with the cinema world seen from the inside, going over all filmmaking stages, from idea to putting it into practice and making a film.
