The film critic’s corner:

“ … Paul Calinescu’s endeavors started much earlier that it is generally acknowledged. We should give up the columnists’  habits according to which every time we speak of the director’s work we finish by enumerating the film titles and that’s itRăsună valeaDesfăşurareaPe răspunderea meaPorto FrancoTitanic Vals.
Maybe that his entire anterior activity as a documentarist ( and we count over 100 docus made with portable wooden  Debrie cameras ) did not eloquently contributed to the development of cinema in Romania. But some of them stay forever in our minds. Out of which there is one, prized in Venice (where Romanian films seldom found their path) called Ţara Moţilor, which is unforgettable."(Călin Căliman, Cinema magazine nr 10, October,1966)
