
Posted four days ago, the film's trailer managed to get over 34,000 views on the social media platform dedicated to video content.
The film, to be released in
Romanian movie theatres on 22 September, tells the story of Gabriel, a teenager who aspires to become a priest and goes to study at a Theological Orthodox Seminar. Initially, he tries to adapt to the environment, but finally he realises that the system is completely corrupt and abusive. Shortly, he and another three mates of his, are labelled by the school council as problem students. Caught in the power struggle between an incorruptible but abusive priest and a secular conniving and corrupt teacher, the students learn that lying, stealing, manipulation and betrayal are skills they have to acquire in order to resist at the seminar.
One Step Behind the Seraphim has in its leading roles Ștefan Iancu and
Vlad Ivanov, the cast being completed by Ali Amir, Alfred Wegeman, Ștefan Mihai, Niko Becker, Ilie Dumitrescu Jr.,
Cristian Bota, Marian Popescu, Radu Botar.
The script and directed were signed by Daniel Sandu, the cinematography by
George Dăscălescu, editing by Mircea Olteanu, costume design by Cireșica Cuciuc, scenography by Adrian Cristea, and
Marius Leftărache dealt with the sound-design. The producers are
Ada Solomon and Ioana Drăghici.
