Reinvented Traditions – Unexpected Solutions for Durable Development

Travling: Creative Traditions is an attempt of video-documenting of the ways by which the cultural and natural heritage contribute to the development of the communities from the economical, touristic, social, cultural and identity points of view.
The network called the Romania of the Creative Traditions continues to put into context the rethinking of the traditions with the project TRavling: Creative Traditions, which investigates the power of salvaging, updating and capitalizing the traditions, but also their quality of representing creative resources for economical activities which should be sustainable, profitable and jobs generating.
The protagonists of the video materials are: the Pro Patrimonio Foundation, Kraftmade, Ivan Patzaichin Association-Mila 23 and the Piscu School – members of the community Romania of the Creative Traditions , a network which was funded in 2017, out of the necessity of bringing together the crafts and the creative industries, alongside entrepreneurs, representatives of the cultural heritage, institutions and organizations which care for keeping the tradition and reinventing it in order to make it relevant for the present days.
The first film of this series is available online and starts from the collection of Honest Goods design objects inspired by Vila Golescu, an endurance approach, in which saving and reactivating the cultural heritage goes hand in hand with the education and with building the bridges to connect the communities. The project is initiated by the Pro Patrimonio Foundation, an association born out of the concern towards the actual state of the Romanian cultural and natural heritage.
The examples of good practice presented in the films can become inspirational model for other projects that intend to creatively capitalize the different elements of traditional culture. The educative role of the mini-documentaries is doubled by the need to define the concept of creative traditions, a field which is still not enough explored, which can contribute to defining and consolidating the country brand of Romania.
The project Travling: Tradiții Creative is initiated by DC Communication and co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration(AFCN). The media partners are: Citatepedia, CINEPUB, BucurestiFM, Igloo media, Modernism Punct Ro, Revista Zeppelin.
The project doesn`t represent the position of AFCN. AFCN is not responsible for the project content or the way in which the results of the project can be used. They are entirely the responsibility of the project beneficiary.
