The dance short film
Sonder, directed and choreographed by Simona Deaconescu and produced by
Anamaria Antoci for Tapioca Film won the Loikka Award at the 2018 Loikka Dance Film Festival in Helsinki, which finished on Sunday, April 8.

The 2,000 Euro award of the 10th edition of the Loikka Dance Film Festival was given to the best dance film in the competition. The award was received by the choreographer Simona Deaconescu, who attended the festival with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institution in Stockholm. She also held a lecture in the conference session called
Future Screens of Dance Conference, on the theme on the dance film in the Romanian culture.
The Romanian artist made an exclusive statement for the ICR Stockholm: “I am very happy about the Loikka Award because in 2013 this very festival is the one that selected my first dance film. And from there,
Silent Places quickly started its festivals journey (…) I had an amazing time during the festival, I met artists with a strong statement, but who constantly question the way the dialogue between film and dance may innovate the contemporary art. We debated a lot around this theme, because it`s a topic that really interests me; slowly I start to part with the idea of trying to fit this type of film in a niche, in a sub-category.”
Sonder had its international premiere in November 2016 at the Bestias Danzantes International Dance Film Festival in Chile and it received a special award of the jury for Best Foreign Film and it was also presented in the 2016
Bucharest International Dance Film Festival.
Loikka Dance Film Festival is one of the most important dance film festivals in Europe and this year it celebrated its 10th anniversary; its programme intended to reach new frontiers of dance, film and new media.
