NexT 2016 special sections: Hanky Panky, NexT is Feminist and LGBT

NexT announced three special programs which aim at defying conventions: Hanky Panky, NexT Is Feminist and LGBT. All three are to be screened during the 10th edition of the  NexT International Film Festival  (7-11 April).
Hanky Panky includes eight shorts that explore the various sides of human sexuality, with all the good and bad that comes out of it. The screening is to be held on Sunday, April 10th, from 9:00 pm, at Elvira Popescu Cinema. In Pearl & Werther, a car is the main witness of a love story lived by a couple of modern-day beatniks. In Amateurs¸ a couple sets out to make porn movies only to discover that everything changes in front of the camera when a stranger is watching. In La nuit autour and in Screw, we witness how adultery spices the existence of the two lead characters. In Sexy Laundry¸ a couple married for 25 years tries to bring back passion in their lives, and in Handgun: A Case of Erectile Dysfunction, a man tries to compensate to his lover for his shortcomings, but he is interrupted by the sudden showing up of a band of thieves. But not all love stories are full of fuss and sparks – we have also features that talk about rejection, fear and loneliness in couples' lives: Trip TV and Our Skin Is Going to Grey.
The features included in the LGBT programme will be available for viewing on Friday, April 8th, since 8:00 pm, at the Control Club. In Sake, Mišel is left alone after a short intense relationship, to look for love again in all the wrong places. B. is the story of a young girl in an unsatisfactory straight relationship, who starts having feelings for another woman. La Grande Safae is a transvestite who has spent most of his life working for a family who had no idea about his real sexual identity, and Alfa is a porn actor who has to go back to the filming set after the death of his boyfriend. However, not everything spins around sexuality. One of the most daring features of the section, A Boy Needs a Friend, is a sincere, philosophical and humorous visual essay about love and friendship.
Moreover, for the second year in a row, the NexT Is Feminist program lays stress on the feminine point of view. Moms on Fire is a stop-motion animation that challenges the traditional ideas about what it means to be a mom in our day and age. Five girls who live in a Paris rehabilitation centre try to deal with their personal traumas in A Few Seconds. A teenager from Istanbul has to deal with unwanted encounters with three men during one single day, in Tuesda. In No Wolf Has a House¸ a hypersensitive woman is driven crazy by her husband's relatives at the latter's anniversary, and a folk singer falls into the net of the Love Monster, in a feminist interpretation of the story „Beauty and the Beast”. The screening is to be held on Saturday, April 9th, from 8:30, at Elvira Popescu Cinema.
