The production made by Dan Curean reveal another facet of the Danube Delta, rich in flora and fauna, focusing particularly on the story of wild horses. Their tumultuous life is seen through the eyes of young local Ivan, a boy having a special connection with animals. In their run for survival, wild horses come to destroy protected areas of the Delta, which triggers inflamed talks between activists and local authorities who want the animals to be exterminated.
On the effects of this film, Dan Curean stated: “The scandal provoked by the attempt to kill the wild horses in an abattoir triggered a strong reaction from the public opinion, which forced the authorities to acknowledge that these horses exist and are part of the Delta's wild life, together with the other protected wildlife. The film contributed a great deal to the public's awareness about this fascinating story, both as concerns the decision-makers, and the general public. I think it also contributed to the shaping and creating of a new Delta brand, that of the wild horses.”
