The Docuart Caravan arrives for two days (May 5-6, 2018) at the StudentFest of the West University in Timișoara (UVT), with Romanian documentaries awarded at the most recent edition of the Docuart Festival in Bucharest.
On Saturday, May 5, the first screening
day starts at 18:00 in the A03 hall of the UVT with
He Who Loves and Lets Go/
Cine iubește și lasă (directed by Victor Gălușcă), the best documentary at the 2017 BDF, which presents a collection of almost 4,000 negatives from the `60s, found in an abandoned village. This short film is followed by
Notorious Deeds /
Faptele sunt cunoscute (directed by Gabriel Tempea), about a 15 year-old high school student from Bucharest, who was excluded from the Communist Youth organization; then he is expelled from school for “reprehensible deeds”. The program continues with
Ionaș Dreams of Rain/ Ionaș visează că plouă (directed by Dragoș Hanciu), selected at the du Réel for best cinematography in the main section of Docuart. The story of the old Ionaș, of his dreams and of his conscience will be discussed after the screening with Ileana Szasz (DOP).
From 19:30, the screening of
Rise Up (directed by Adrian Moisiu, Marius Mihordescu) will start; the film received the award for best Cinematography in the student section. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the two young directors. The first evening of the Docuart caravan ends with
Variations on One Name/Variațiuni pe un nume (directed by Violeta Gorgos) about Nicolae Simatoc, the first Romanian who got to play in the FC Barcelona and Internazionale Milano football teams.
On Sunday, May 6, 2018, the first screening starts at 17:00 in the A01 hall of the UVT with
Gentle Roots/
Bune și blânde (directed by Florin Andreescu)
, a film
about a world about to become extinct, in which a life style is under the test of time. From 17:45, the audience will be able to watch the story of
Nicu Ioniță, a survivor of the Pitești experiment / Nicu Ioniță, un supraviețuitor al experimentului Pitești (directed by Gabriela Baiardi). The documentary which received the Best Director award,
Moments of Silence/Momente de tăcere (directed by Ion Donică), will be screened starting with 19:10. The film
Secondo Me (directed by
Pavel Cuzuioc, which received the Best Cinematography award at Docuart 2017), will end the Sunday evening, follows the daily life of three cloakroom attendants at three European opera houses
