Dedicated to the Balkan film and kitchen, the 9th edition of the Divan Film Festival (DFF) takes place under the theme “Balkan Dreams”. During the nine days of the festival, the viewers that will be in Craiova and in Port Cultural Cetate will have the chance to watch films, theatre performances, concerts and culinary demonstrations.

After the world premiere which took place at the Sarajevo Film Festival,
Love 1. Dog / Dragoste 1: Câine, the first part of the Love Trilogy signed by the director
Florin Șerban will be screened at Divan Film Festival (national premiere). Featuring
Cosmina Stratan and
Valeriu Andriuță,
Love 1. Dog tells the story of a lonely man, whose world is turned upside down by a woman that he finds in the woods.
Another special moment in the Divan Film program is represented by the screening of the film
Moromeții, considered by the film critics as one of the best Romanian films. In 2017, 30 years after the release of the famous film

rendition of the novel written by Marin Preda,
Stere Gulea started shooting for
Moromeții 2, in the exact same village as the previous film, in the Talpa village, Teleorman county. The film new will be released in November this year and the Divan Film festival will have the privilege to watch a fragment after the screening of
Moromeții. The event will take part in the Summer Garden of the Romanescu Park, in Craiova, in the presence of a few crew members.
There are good news for the young viewers as well:
The Sentries / Străjerii (directed by
Liviu Mărghidan), the first film with and for children made after the revolution, will also be screened at the DFF. A new production which reminds the children that playing doesn`t mean tablets and phones exclusively and that it`s best to spend as much of the

childhood years in the middle of nature. While being in a camp during their summer holiday, a few children go through lots of adventures: they learn the compass orientation, they climb up the mountain, tell horror stories around the camp fire and they fall in love.
The festival program also includes short films. From very strong social dramas that speak about family (
Liniște,, directed by Alex Iureș), or human relationships (
Iedera, directed by Sarra Tsorakidis), films that the viewers love, with a touch of rom-com ((
Misterul unui caz simplu, directed by
Vera Surățel), or full of surrealistic elements (
Atacul peștilor burete, regia Vlad Dâmboviceanu), or to
dark animations (
The Best Client / Cel mai bun client, directed by Serghei Chiviriga), they are all samples of a cinema that is flourishing.
