The autumn Cinepub season opens on October 24 with
The Big Boys, a short film written and directed by
Tudor Botezatu, one of the freshest Romanian directors. On Cinepub you can also find
Blană, another short film signed by the young director.
The Professionals is based on the short story written by Ephraim Kishon, in which one coach trains his student how to trick a boxing match, for the happiness and well-being of all. The back-room games, the ones we never get to see. “This is what I liked about the screenplay: it`s like in politics – a man comes on TV and gives a press conference, but the people who see him have no idea about what interests and what games are behind” Tudor Botezatu says in an interview.
The short film is a complex sequence-plan in which a handful of people enter and leave the frame, each of them having its own specific attribution, represented by a personal touch. The Main character, the boxer, learns that the match in which he will “win” is arranged and that he must take into account the main story told by his personal trainer, while he howls and swears. the coach has discovered the perfect recipe for a perfect show: a boxing match in which the spectators can hardly wait to see the sport of broken teeth and broken noses.
