"The Bear`s Eye Curse" is a “polemic film, a response to the <descriptive> way, which was obvious in most of all the films inspired by the work of the famous novelist. "The Bear`s Eye Curse" is an attempt – not scoring in terms of portraits, psychology and atmosphere – to enter the mythical universe of the Romanian woods” -
Călin Căliman, "Istoria filmului românesc (1897-2000)” (Ed. Fundaţiei Culturale Române,
Bucureşti, 2000).
