Romanian Participation at Free Zone Film Festival in Serbia


     The Romanian Cultural Institute in Viena is the partner of the 14th edition of the Free Zone Film which takes place in Serbia (in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis) from November 7 to 12, 2018. The 2018 edition includes 3 Romanian film productions: Touch Me Not / Nu mă atinge-măLicu, a Romanian Story / Licu, o poveste românească and the  documentary Infinite Football / Fotbal infinit.
     The festival will be attended by the director Ana Dumitrescu (Licu, a Romanian Story), the actress Irmena Chichikova (Touch Me Not) and Laurenţiu Ginghină (Infinite Football).
     Free Zone Film festival was set up in 2005 in Belgrade (Serbia) with the purpose of finding a location and an ideological space in Belgrade for debating, re-considering and understanding the social phenomenon and of the contemporary social issues in Serbia, the Balkans and from the entire world – by popularizing the art and socially involved films that very seldom are include in a regular film repertory. Every year, Free Zone screens from 30 to 40 feature films and documentaries in the six festival days in 10 cinemas in the biggest cities in Serbia (Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš). Besides the main programme, the festival also organizes special screenings for high school kids in the section Free Zone Junion, workshops, crafts workshops and a nightly program of debates.
