The Night of the Ad Eaters 2016


    For 21 years Dan Chișu has been organizing the Romanian version of this event brought from France. The Night of the Ad Eaters is Jean-Marie Boursicot`s original initiative who, in 1981, created an attractive way of screening TV ads during an entire night, turning advertising into entertainment.
     All the ads that are included in the program are in the care of the Jean-Marie Boursicot Cinematheque, and the event created by him has this purpose of financially supporting this depositary, because it finances itself. Dan Chișu`s intuition worked this time as well and thus, the Night of the Ad Eaters is an event which is long waited for. Long lines of viewers, especially young people, waited at the entrance of the screening room. 
     We got used to avoiding the TV commercial breaks, which are too many, but the Ads selection for this annual event is a show, especially because you get to see really smart creative productions from all over the world. Some of them count on humour, others on the charm of the animals and others appeal to our film lovers`memory, because they remake some or remind us of successful films. A commercial for a regular detergent reminds us of the Saturday Night Fever, for instance.
     Dimitri Fleury, the representative of the Jean-Marie Boursicot Cinematheque joined the event in Bucharest. Actually he has been a guest of the Romanian editions for many years; he is part of similar events organized in the 40 countries where this event also takes place.
