The Romanian Film Initiative, BAMcinématek, and the Jacob Burns Film Center are pleased to announce the 13th edition of the MAKING WAVES: New Romanian Cinema, which will take place from November 26 to December 5, 2018.
Following last year`s focus on
Anca Damian, who returns this year with her latest film,
Moon Hotel Kabul, the 13th edition of Making Waves gives space to the brand new wave of female directors in the Romanian cinema, with a program that opens at BAMcinématek from November 26 to 29. The audience will have the chance to watch
Touch Me Not / Nu mă atinge-mă (directed by
Adina Pintilie),
Soldiers / Soldați. Poveste din Ferentari (directed by
Ivana Mladenović),
Free Dacians / Dacii liberi (directed by
Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan and Andrei Gorgan) and
Licu, A Romanian Story
/ Licu, o poveste românească (directed by Ana Dumitrescu).
A retrospective of the feature films directed by Radu Jude can be seen at BAMcinématek, from November 30 to December 2.
From November 29 to December 5, 2018, the Jacob Burns Film Center, will schedule the following films:

I Do Not Care if We Go Down in History as Barbarians / Îmi este indiferent dacă în istorie vom intra ca barbari” (directed by
Radu Jude),
Pororoca (directed by
Constantin Popescu),
One Step Behind the Seraphim/ Un pas în urma serafimilor (directed by
Daniel Sandu),
The Story of a Summer Lover / Povestea unui pierde-vară (directed by
Paul Negoescu),
Charleston (directed by
Andrei Creţulescu) and
Tarzan`s Testicles / Ouăle lui Tarzan (directed by
Alexandru Solomon).
An industry event will take place again this year, in order to facilitate the connections between the Romanian filmmakers and the American film industry.
The 2018 edition is supported by The Trust for Mutual Understanding, the Romanian Film Centre and the Romanian Filmmakers Union, alongside numerous individual donors.
