LIM – Less is More calls for entries for its 2018 Edition

LIM – Less is More, the European platform for low-budget films' development, offers a new generation of filmmakers, already recognised for their short or feature films, the cance to define their own way in the production of low budget films. The programme also targets artists coming from the theatre, documentary or visual arts. The registration deadline for the platform's second edition is 30 October 2017.
At the first edition of LIM, Gabriela Suciu and Dan Mihai Radu were among the participants, and they sat down for with the AaRC team for an interview about their experience in this programme.
Apart from the screenplay development process, the programme involves meetings with potential producers or co-producers, as well as with financial partners worldwide.
Pierre Hodgson, script consultant with LIM, said: “One of the things we try to do at LIM is to ensure that the projects are as personal as possible for each filmmaker and to impose on them as little as possible. At the same time, our job is to ensure that the scripts made at LIM are as narratively efficient as possible, keeping their uniqueness against the system. This is important, because it means that the films will remain different and will surprise the audience each time.”
“Through limitations you dig vertically a story. The limitations are a tool concentrating the project in its essence. That means characters, dramaturgy, locations, filming style. Without limitations is often hard to focus on what matters most in your script and discover your own individuality,“ Antoine Le Bos, LIM artistic director, stated.
The first edition of LIM – Less is More developed 16 projects coming from 15 countries all over the world, and proved that value comes from team work, maximising the narrative power for the purpose of creative freedom.
LIM is structured in 3 workshops, set up in 3 European countries, during March – October 2018. Between workshops, the online re-writing sessions and the established deadlines ensure a regular work process and the feedback between consultants and participants.
