There are just a few days left until the start of a new edition of Película, f the Ibero-American film and culture festival in Bucharest. The jury of this edition is made of: Sylvie Debs (France, specialist in Brazilian cinema), Bogdan Dumitrache (Romania, actor) and Boglarka Nagy (Romania-Germany, the general director of the International Art Cinema Confederation - CICAE, Berlin).
The jury will select the Best Film out of the five titles of the official competition: Benzinho (Brasil- Uruguay, directed by Gustavo Pizzi), Canción sin nombre (Peru, directed by: Melina León), La camarista (Mexico, directed by Lila Avilés), Rojo (Argentina, directed by Benjamín Naishtat), Tarde para morir joven (Chile, 2018, directed by Dominga Sotomayor).
Every year Película intends to celebrate the Ibero-American cinema and culture and that is why the festival evenings are accompanied by special screenings followed by Q&As: Las niñas bien (Mexico, directed by Alejandra Márquez Abella), Wiñaypacha (Peru, directed by Óscar Catacora), La cordillera de los sueños (Chile, directed by Patricio Guzmán), Yuli (Spain, directed by Icíar Bollaín).
The closing film, Tango suomi, is an Argentinian-Finish co-production and it offers us the joy of having with us Gabriela Aparici, the film director and producer. According to the annual tradition, the film screening will be followed by a Milonga evening in the French Institute Atrium.
On Wednesday, September 11, one of the most iconic Brazilian films, Central do Brasil, will open the 4th edition of the Película Festival.
During the festival which has Brazil in focus, four outstanding Brazilian productions which tackle actual social subjects will be screened. The viewers will also have the chance to enjoy a capoeira show made by Alemar Capoeira Group, a Rio Juice natural juices tasting, music demonstrations offered by Gabriela Costa&Alex Man, together with a concert held by Mara Halunga & Caue de Marinis Project. Moreover, the viewers will be able to take part in the culinary workshop of Brazilian food.
The festival is organized by FREEALIZE and the ARTICHITANA Cultural Association, with the honorary support of some of the embassies of the Latin American countries in Bucharest: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru and of the French Embassy, French Institute and the Cervantes Institute.
