This year, the Transilvania International Film Festival continues to give the
Alex. Leo Șerban fellowship. This initiative - which reached its fourth edition - is meant to promote the spirit of freedom of speech, of professionalism and of intellectual rigor and will have as its main prize a 2,500 Euro worth fellowship, offered by Conceptual Lab, a partner of the festival for the second year in a row.
The Alex. Leo Șerban
fellowship was granted for the first time in 2012 during the Transilvania International Film Festival, in the memory of the most important film critic of the past two decades who was also a dear friend of the festival. If at the first editions the award was given to the young film journalists and critics, in 2018, the initiative is addressed also to the film directors and script writers. The only entry criterion is the age limit, which is 35. The critics, directors or script writers are expected to send their CVs, motivation letters and the outline of their projects in development until March, 12, 2018. The organizers will appoint a commission that will judge all the candidates.
TIFF intends to support the developing and the making of the project that the next winner of the fellowship works on, within the frames of the special programs that the festival has. The registration is made online, by filling in
a form which is available on the website.
For the first time, starting with this new edition of the fellowship, there will also be a special mention which will be awarded to a Romanian actor. The
board chosen by the organizers will judge the work of the young actors under 35 years old, who made themselves noticed in a successful short film or feature film that had the premiere in 2017. The list of the nominees will soon be announced on the festival website and the 1,000 Euro award offered in partnership by Conceptual lab and TIFF, will be given during the festival closing gala.
