Premieres for Romania, in the Competition of Ceau, Cinema!


     Six films made by directors from Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine have been selected in the competition of the fifth edition of Ceau, Cinema! Festival which will take place in July (19 to 22) in Timişoara and Gottlob.
     Five of the six films competing for the “Răzvan Georgescu” Ceau, Cinema! Award and for the Audience Award, offered by Casa Auto Timişoara, will have their premiere in Romania.
Selected in 2017 for the Cannes Film Festival – Un Certain Regard section, Out is the debut feature film of the Slovak director György Kristóf. Out follows the trip through Europe of a man in his fifties, who is in search of a job, but who finally gets involved in several strange incidents.
     3/4  is the Bulgarian director Ilian Metev`s fiction feature directorial debut. In 2017, the film received the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival, in the Cineasti del presente section and the great prize of the international competition at the 2018 Sofia Film Festival. The film portrays a family – a father and two teenage sons – during their last summer together.
     The Ukrainian director Marina Stepanska`s feature debut, Falling is a fragile love story between a boy and a girl in the contemporary post-revolutionary Ukraine. The film had its world release during last year`s East of the West section of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and it was selected in the competitions of the festivals from Stockholm and Premiers Plan d`Angers.
     Selected for the 2017 editions of the festivals in Venice and Premiers Plans d`Angers, Manuel is the first feature film of Dario Albertini, who made several documentaries. Manuel is the portrait of an 18 years old young man who leaves the foster home and has to face the beginning of a new live, in liberty.
     The fourth film of the Croatian director Nevio Marasović, Comic Sans focuses on a young, successful graphic designer, who finds himself in the situation to review his entire life after being left by his girlfriend and meeting his father after a long time. This year, Comic Sans won the critics award for Best film in the region, in the competition of the International Film Festival FEST from Belgrade.
     Nina is the directorial debut of the Polish female director Oga Chajdas, which had its world release during this year`s edition of the Rotterdam Film Festival and which has recently been selected for Karovy Vary. The film follows a couple who decides to call on a surrogate mother, but things get complicated when the wife falls in love with the young woman chosen to bear her child.
The jury is made up of the actress Alina Grigore, the film critc Ileana Bîrsan and the director Florin Iepan.
