
In the opening, Liana Țuroiu (chairperson of ICR) underlined the cinema's contribution to opinion forming, to debate and education. This year, FFE is organising, apart from film screenings,
dezbates starting from the subjects of certain films, among which is also
Fixeur (directed by
Adrian Sitaru), as well as
cinema education workshops.
The following also took the floor at the event: Angela Cristea (Head of CE Representative Office), Frantisek Zachoval (Chairperson of EUNIC România), Călin Stegerean

(Director of the National Art Museum of Romania),
Paul Negoescu (
Honorary Ambassador of FFE 2017 edition), Annamaria Lodato (Head of ARTE International Relations Department), Paivi Pohjanheimo (Ambassador of the Republic of Finland in Romania) and
Alex Trăilă (
Artistic Director of FFE).
The European Film Festival has reached its 21st Edition and is unfolding from 4 to 11 May in Bucharest, to be continued afterwards in other cities of the country: Iași (12 – 14 May), Tîrgu Mureș (19 -21 May), Gura Humorului (19 – 21 May) and Timișoara (26 – 28 May).
