The 5th Edition of Ploiești International Film Festival (PIFF) will take place during 16-19 June, at Cinema City in AFI Palace Ploiești.
Like every year, PIFF 2015 will bring the latest shorts from all over the world, as well as a series of masterclasses, concerts and special events. The Festival has three sections: the international shorts' competition, films outside the competition and related events. Within the official competition, 15 genre shorts will be screened (fantasy, thriller, horror and science-fiction), from 11 countries. The competition will also present the viewers 10 Romanian premieres, 1 European premiere and 1 international premiere.
The films outside the competition will be divided into four special programmes: DARK COMEDY NIGHT (comedy noir)
, LOVESTORY SPECIAL (section dedicated to unusual love stories), EXPERIMENTAL (experimental films) and WAR ZONE (new section, dedicated to films approaching topics related to war and revolution).
“We are happy that PIFF reached its fifth edition and that it has been very well received by film lovers. We started the application process for registering films last November, and we concluded it in March, this year. The Selection Commission looked for the best shorts among the 708 that were entered. It was far from easy, but we chose 15 films that will certainly offer the viewers a complete and complex experience emotionally-wise. During the selection process, we took into account first of all the stories' originality, the director's concept and the interpretation.” – Emilian Floareș, Director of Ploiești International Film Festival.
The total value of the awards granted within the 5th Edition of Ploiești International Film Festival rises to EUR 1,500. The PIFF Trophy will be awarded to the best film, amounting to EUR 1,000 euro, and the Audience Award valued at EUR 500.
