A not so cheerful film, but rather sad, poetic and evocative (2016)

“From 1991 to 2016 I was a guest in the house of this family living in Maramureș, in the Valea Stejarului village, at the end of the Romanian world, way up North. I was there almost every year for Easter, Christmas, funerals, births, weddings, during the summer, during the winter, in spring, for the picking of the plums or for the making of the eau-de-vie, for that matter. I became a member of the family and of the village. I became an inhabitant of Maramureș myself. And I have a cemetery plot there for free, like the revolutionaries in Bucharest. 26 hours of uncut footage containing lumps of gold.”
